for a non-commercial grade machine, it definitely meets my expectations. it prints and copies like a flash enough and the quality is absolutely blooming. the energy saver mode keeps the machine aloof when not in expend. it's easy to consume, and it's nice having all the multifunctions in one unit. fyi, i initially had problems because my usb cable was ten feet long. the user manual does not warn of problems with long cables, but canon's mercurial and knowledgeable tech help folks solved that for me expeditiously. i'm a shrimp annoyed that i must specify in the print dialogue box each time i want to exhaust the manual feeder (aka multi purpose tray) ; the machine does not automatically detect paper in the manual feeder and print from it unless i first specify manual paper tray in my print dialogue box. it's nice to have the printer and fax available to my entire network via the cat 5 cable, but unless i'm wrong, the only draw to scan to your computer is through the usb cable, which meant that after installing the network drivers i installed the usb drivers and now have a confusing number of drivers in my print dialogue box fall down menu. i probably can seize the network drivers from the one computer that's connected via the usb, but i haven't tried that yet, and i wish the setup instructions made that clearer. also, the scans initially were coming out unacceptably faint until (again with the aid of tech abet) i lowered the scan resolution setting and changed from black-and-white to grayscale. the fax interface is a shrimp annoying in that i can't access fax numbers from my outlook contacts and if i add an address to the canon fax address book there does not appear to be a diagram to delete it. overall, the machine is easy to consume and performs with reliable quality. i am not disappointed.

We liked our Canon ImageClass D780 a lot, but after 5 years it needed repairs expensive enough to prompt us to replace it. The cost of the D1150 was about the same retail mark as the D780 but doesn't compare. Biggest complaint: you can't fax manually to more than one number at a time. The only blueprint to send to multiple destinations is to invent an entry and give it a name and number. We fax to mostly fresh destinations, so that option is an unacceptable time waster. Another annoyance: it wrinkles the edge of our envelopes, and the envelope holder holds a smaller stack than the older machine. The output tray is situated such that it's hard to peruse if there is anything in it unless you're very end. These are the things we don't like so far. We've had the D1150 for only a month and wish we could send it serve. I will say that it's faster than the frail multifunction, but I'd trade that exiguous increase in accelerate in a second for the functionality and user-friendliness of the D780.Canon imageCLASS D1150 Laser Multifunction Copier (3478B005AA)

6/3/2009 Update

I've been using the method for a few weeks now. It has a lot of potential and things can be done, but many applications/features lack the quality of a old-fashioned product: inconsistent and evil interface, missing features etc.

Major issues:

1. Tiny POI database. Only 2 mln POIs, and so far, no procedure to win or import additional POIs. Enormous pickle for me, and no easy contrivance around. Finding missing POIs using Google at home takes longer than on a regular GPS unit with built-in POIs. You cannot consume Google on the road (or it is powerful more difficult) . Some GPS devices have 6 or more millions of POIs; you can really bask in it after using the cramped 2mln Clarion's database.

2. POI search accelerate can be from 10 seconds to 3 minutes!!! depending on user's entry. 3 minutes - it is unprejudiced an absurd number. It must be fixed.

3. No Bluetooth hands-free calling. (The GPS is supposed to work with a phone. Why not hands-free calling? I need a BT headset? How many more electronics should I carry? )

4. Bluetooth dial-up network (DUN) doesn't work with my phone. I was surprised because it was one of the major selling points. Clarion provides only a list of compatible networks and my network is on that list. No list of compatible/supported phones.(My phone's DUN works with my other devices)

My hope is that Clarion will maintain releasing updates and improving its functionality.

Written before 6/3/2009

The great:

1. Integration with the Internet:

a) You can send POIs from the Internet to ClarionMiND. Even with edifying GPS units finding POIs may be difficult: you either don't acquire it or you procure too many. ClarionMiND lets you view your scamper on your computer at home using Google Maps, and send POIs to the design. Broad feature!!!

b) Astronomical desktop-class Internet browser. You will be able to do everything you can do on your desktop at home, including Flash videos.

c) Google search, and it is integrated with navigation.

2. Navigation (I will update this review on route quality after I spend the unit more) :

a) So far routes behold pleasurable.

b) Lane succor. It shows which lane on a multi-lane road you should bewitch.

c) Nice job with shriek directions. For example, it tells you something like, "go to the good side of the road" in order to prepare you for honest turn.

d) All info needed for navigation is on the screen: compass heading (N, NE, E...), arrival time, distance, next and modern street.

e) auto-zoom.

3. POI

a) Very mercurial search

b) You can preview POIs on the blueprint. This is something nice and unusual. You can assume a single or a group of POIs and contemplate them on a temporary design.

4. Address entry

a) Very speedily.

b) QWERTY keyboard

c) Predictable entry. Only suitable keys are active. As you hold entering data, it shows what was found at the top of the camouflage.

d) It remembers previous entry, and lets you re-start search from any level: set, city, street.

5. Hardware:

a) Graceful, high-resolution, gargantuan screen

b) Touchscreen works well. It is responsive.

c) Dedicated hardware buttons for Home, Top Menu, Music/Sound.

d) Broad to fill in hands

6. Free Internet traffic. So far, I didn't rep if it is integrated with navigation. There will be an option for radio traffic which, most likely, will be integrated.

7. Internet weather, news, email etc

8. Expeditiously GPS lock. Less than 30 seconds.

The bad:

1.POI database is miniature. I couldn't secure retail stores like, Walmart, Target, Costco etc

2.The car mount is poor. It is a few 100s dollars plot with a "$1" mount. Very difficult to mount/dismount.

3.After you mount the method, it automatically limits its Internet functionality. Result: you cannot employ the Internet in your garage when the method is mounted. You have to dismount it 1st, check the Internet, mount it again. Dreadful!!! If they wanted to build it salubrious, they should detect vehicle race from the GPS.

4.Addresses are not displayed in the American format (number street, city zip), but as zip city street number.

5.Keyboard

a) Inconsistent keys. Sometimes, it is character-only; sometimes, characters and digits.

b) Inconsistent behavior: to procure, sometimes you have to click "Succor", sometimes "Enter"; sometimes something else.

6.Too many keystrokes needed to peep the route overview.

7.New time is not displayed during navigation.

8.The intention gets very hot.

9. Video player doesn't glean many video formats.

The bottom line:

It is a sizable navigation device: very hastily, detailed spoken commands, plenty of details on the conceal, stout method, trustworthy routes. The method could be a perfect GPS but they have to add more POIs, BT hands-free calling, and polish the interface. ClarionMiND works very well with the Internet: it will have more or less of a practical meaning for different people.

I have passe this unit for a few weeks. The navigation share is fine. Google search is useless without Wifi. POI is a joke...it cannot even come by Walmart down the street. In order to win any usefulness in searches, I had to setup Wifi in my car. Traffic integration is abominable. The traffic applet cannot zoom. You have to switch screens to examine traffic. This cannot be done if you mount the unit. Mounting the unit switches it to car mode. The traffic receiver NK1U works okay if you earn a signal. Peer my review. Overall, the unit is composed very rough. I am hopeful that with software updates, traffic can be updated via Wifi instead of the Docking situation. I had a Scuttle Tell prior to this unit, but it got stolen. The Plod Exclaim had better traffic information...I miss my now stolen and stupid (company is on skeleton crew) Scurry Boom.

I was very disappointed with this for several reasons. I bought it primarily for a GPS unit, which worked gorgeous, but I was really disappointed to look that it does not feature the Bluetooth hands free calling. This was one of the features I was told (by an Amazon tech) that it had prior to my assume. The unit has a "Contacts" setting to store your personal contacts, including telephone numbers. What's the point of this setting, if you cannot call through the GPS via Bluetooth? As far as the internet, I do not have many Wi-fi connections in my region, so the Bluetooth connection feature was intriguing. However, even though I have an internet connection service on my Verizon cellular phone, I realized that to connect to the internet through this procedure, it would cost an additional $50/month for this service. What a joke! Because of this, I was unable to play with the additional online features of the unit. The unit is on its diagram aid to Amazon and I concept on purchasing a beneficial Garmin GPS with bluetooth hands free calling. I hope my two cents will assist someone with their future GPS buying decision.

These speakers sound broad and glance really apt, too. I can bellow they are made of quality materials, as they feel very solid. The speakers are very definite and I esteem watching movies even more now. They provide adequate bass, and are very sure in the higher frequencies. Even my wife said that these sound great better than the JBL satellite speakers I was using. Polk Audio made a grand, affordable product.

I also possess the previous generation RTi6 bookshelf speakers by Polk and was able to do a sing comparison. The 6s have larger drivers so their tiny mid-bass advantage is to be expected, but in all other ways the RTi A1 is an improvement. The sound projects further outside of the cabinets, or rather the cabinets recede and throw a gigantic, wide sound-field outward. Instruments sound like they should, male voices aren't nasal or chesty, and the highs are soothing rather than sibilant and tinny (as the previous RTis could net under pressure) . I have never heard a speaker this nice at a mark this rude.

i have had these in unbiased over a week and with the hours i have played them i would say that i am entering the smash in stage. factual out of the box they sounded a microscopic shiny, now they sound a itsy-bitsy more laid relieve and smoother. most reviewers on here pair their speakers with a receiver and a sub. i would suggest that you exercise neither. in stereo i would suggest you spend more agreeable hardware to accept more from these gems, such as a splendid amp,a preamp and a gracious cd player,or turntable. now for my review.i listened to the polks well into the gradual hours of the night each night. as my preamp and amp got warmer the polks fell deeper into the sound stage as the sound stage got wider. i turned the lights off and i was conviced they were beefy range speakers.from the sometimes thunderous bottom ruin to realistic midband and the unexcited highs.as the hours went on i plunged deeper into my cd collection, and the sound stopped comming from the speakers and were placed in locations in the air between and the outer edges the speakers. when i kept on looking at each speaker it did not appear that sound was comming from them. this has happened to me before on a larger scale with my legacy signatures (130lbs each beasts, a minute over five feet enormous and almost 4grand more) .will downing's pleasures of the night (cd) is my usual reference cd for male voices and his notify came so cessation to me in that center stage i know i could have slapped him if i had reached out my hand. maxwell's cd embroya is my bottom demolish test cd and wow the gut they had was gargantuan. i continued to listen to more cds from jazz to some classic r&b and classical and they got better and better. i love'm. and by the diagram did i say they were a very genuine looking pair of speakers.

This is overall a very kindly printer. I like the built in duplex scanner and printer; it scans 2 sided documents without the need to flip it as well as prints 2 sided. The only drawback is that there is a brief 10 second or so stop after printing one side to allow the ink to dry.

I would give this product a 5 star rating but lowered it by 2 for two reasons.

Reason 1:

I expect the quality of this printer. My first one was sinister. It had two problems.

First, the key pad would not function properly. It ignored about every other key press and that was when pressing them normally. Pressing the buttons snappy such as to scroll down a menu would result in only a few buttons being recognized if any. Going through the menu with this defect was a chore. I checked the show model at a store which did not have that spot. This defect appeared to affect all the buttons.

Second, the printer registered the ink as installed on December 2008 even though it was installed in May 2009. This did not affect the ink warranty however.

My replacement printer operated normally. The keypad recognized all the buttons. I was able to rapidly work my blueprint through the menus. The ink showed it was installed in May 2009. However, the connection fragment in the relieve that connects everything (power cable, phone, Ethernet, USB, etc.) does not appear to be tightly connected to the printer housing (not a expansive deal) .

Reason 2:

In choosing my novel printer, I was looking for a indecent cost printer to do sad and white printouts to replace my broken-down HP laser 4si. The replacement dark ink cost appears to be remarkable more expensive when compared to the HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless all in one model. This printer uses the 564XL dusky ink which is genuine for only about 800 pages. The 8500 all in one uses the 940XL dark ink which is top-notch for about 2200 pages, nearly 3 times more, yet they cost about the same when purchased from Amazon. It would appear the designate per page for gloomy ink is more than double the cost of the 8500 model.

The color inks appear to have the same per page cost between this model and the 8500 when purchased through Amazon. The inks for this printer have about 1/2 the page capacity, but are also about 1/2 the notice.

While I recall the 8500 models dusky ink cost, I decided against that higher extinguish model because of an annoying high pitch noise it emits from where the power cable connects (at least from the one I took home as well as from several store displays) .

Good Quality Photos:

The photos view tall on HP glossy paper. Looking at them, they would appear to near from a photo lab, there was no graininess. I never believed Ink Jets could print such resplendent images. However, when I printed them through Windows Vista photo gallery, they came out too red. I adjusted the magenta down and increased the cyan and yellow. I composed wasn't gratified with the results. When I printed them through the HP Digital Imaging Monitor and selected Auto Photo Fix under advanced options, the colors appeared to print correctly under the default settings. So I am guessing in the future, I will need to print all my pictures via the HP Digital Imaging Monitor.

Follow up on 6/17/09 (Revised from 6/7/09 to accurate saturation and color tone)

I recommend turning off Auto Photo Fix because it doesn't seem to work correctly on all photos. Instead, I have created a fresh setting. I exercise Incandescent -6, Saturation 0 (neutral), Color Tone -30 (frosty), Cyan 12, Magenta -8, Yellow 5, and Sad 0. I print on HP photo paper with the automatic settings and hasten this through the Photosmart software. The default color settings (zero on all) were intention off, extremely red and too warm.

The above settings do improbable lab quality results.

You can go the report up and down in the HP Photosmart Well-known software to slice it as well.

Follow up on 9/2/09

I have had several issues with this printer which I was able to correct:

1) The auto paper feeder would not feed the paper through after a couple of sheets. HP benefit gave me some documentation how to super the rollers and that resolved the problem

2) Using Vista 64 bit software, the printer frequently sent my computer a connection error when scanning documents. A July 2009 update on HP's website corrected that predicament. It is a firmware update that I highly recommend.

3) The fax would not work with my Comcast ISP phone service. Per HP's website, a solution is to lower the connection speed; I state mine at the lowest, 9600, and the fax now works perfectly using Comcast's ISP service.

I noticed a expansive contrast between this HP printer and my customary Epson printers. When my Epson printers notion the ink was empty, that was it, the printers stopped working. This HP printer on the other hand gives frequent notices when it thinks the ink is empty but doesn't shut down the printer. I have gone through all my cartridges at least once, some twice using XL cartridges (I have dilapidated the printer a lot), and have ignored the warnings. I wait until I can visually gawk that the color is gone on my print outs. Replacing the totally empty cartridge with a level one cleaning does the job. The ink indicator is fairly erroneous from my experience and I can expend the cartridges grand longer than what the printer thinks I have.

I don't recommend a level two cleaning unless needed as that uses up lots of ink.

I am tranquil very tickled with this printer.

Follow up on 10/5/09

I noticed this printer sometimes cuts the bottom line on some of my printouts. After searching the HP forums for awhile, I found a fix. If this also happens to you, go to your control panel, choose printer, upright click on HP Photosmart C309a series and chose properties, go to tab ports, and uncheck the box that states Enable bidirectional help which is towards the bottom.

Follow up on 10/30/09

I installed Windows 7 on my system initially as an upgrade. The HP Solution Center no longer worked. I also had issues with other software (non HP software), so I did a super install of Windows 7. The HP website has Windows 7 software for this printer which I have installed and so far appears to work shapely. I suggest that if you install Windows 7, you might want to uninstall all the HP software prior to the upgrade and then install the updated Windows 7 HP printer software.

The other thing is that bidirectional encourage was re-enabled causing some of my print outs to cut-off at the bottom. The printer was not listed in devices and printers. To lift bi-directional benefit, you can commence up Internet Explorer and retract print from the menu. Under bewitch printer, highlight HP Photosmart 309a Series and legal click it and catch properties. Go to the tab ports and uncheck the box that states Enable bidirectional assist which is towards the bottom and click OK. The system will attach the setting even if re-booted.

Follow up on 11/12/2009

I am not gay. I noticed some discoloration on my table legal next to the printer. I lifted the printer and saw a stout amount of ink on my table underneath the printer. I have never seen an inkjet do this before. Needless to say, my cramped table is permanently damaged. I have returned this to the store I bought it at and replaced it with a Canon Pixma MX860. I decided against getting a third HP Photosmart. I haven't read any other complaints with the printer leaking ink so I will leave my rating at 3 stars.

I bought this last week after taking relieve two others in one week (HP C4599 and HP6310 because salesmen assured me they had both fax and wi-fi but they didn't.) This Photosmart Premium (C309) has EVERYTHING I wanted: color fax, print, copy, scan, 50 pg document feeder, very easy two-sided printing, built-in wi-fi and bluetooth, reads from Flash drives and memory cards, has LCD veil, and can work independently of the computer.

Hook-up and software loading took me almost an hour but was fairly simple, I did WiFi setup so it isn't physically connected to my computer at all and can be placed elsewhere in my home office. I DID follow another reviewer's instruct to custom install and skip the HP updates and shopping junk that exhaust up location and uninteresting you down. Large advice. My added advice: Be obvious to uninstall EVERY portion of HP software you previously had on your computer before starting.

OK, so besides the listed features here are my likes and dislikes:

LIKES: appearance very pretty; instructions very intuitive; can separately pre-load photo paper; unexpected trim itsy-bitsy add-on features like Snappily Forms to print calendar pages, graph paper, even a few games like Sudokus!; can reproduce photos with one button; color resolution is intense; can even print on CD's (if you hold the lawful ones) ; prints rapidly once it gets started. One other very icy feature: it prints straight from my iPhone using free HP iPrint application.

DISLIKES: takes too long getting started after you press "print" and is noisy doing it (though level-headed when actually printing) ; the sad on documents is not quite dismal enough (though I suspect this may place ink and perhaps can be adjusted in settings) ; photo paper loading didn't work with Kodak paper (but worked dazzling with HP paper) ; ink is expensive...I don't yet know how long it'll last.

Overall there are unbiased too many edifying features to delight in on this printer that I can't focus on the few flaws. I'm in adore.

I former this printer about a month ago and all works perfect since installation. Dont expend the CD that approach with the printer is a demolish of time, go to HP Web page and Download the Last and Fleshy Version of the Driver for this printer.

The Printer is a apt Elephantine featured pack. No other printers have all the toys that this baby have. When you secure fax-scan-copy-printer dont have CD/DVD print, when you procure scan-copy-cd/dvd-printer dont have a fax, this baby have all Fax, Scan, Copy, Printer, Print CD/DVD, bluetooth, WiFi Conection, Network, Pict Bridge, USB, 64MB ram, 50 Pages Document feeder, 2 Trays (one for normal paper and one for photo), automatic double sided print (Duplex Printing on both sides of paper), 2.5" Veil, 32 ppm average draft and over 12 ppm Laser Quality, 5 Ink cartridges (1 each unlit, photo dim, cyan, magenta, yellow), 2500 pages monthly duty cicle and over 1250 pages photocopy cicle. This Accurate All-In-One have all the components that you would have in all the other models of the same stamp. Is very robust, dont junk paper and you can bewitch cartidges of high capacity (XL) than come until 750 pages average.

What other toy we can have in a printer? ... maybe the same but laser?

Is one of the best and more complete printer in the market, I can print from anywhere in my home and virtually over anywhere printable media.

If you want the Paunchy Featured and most complete printer "occupy this baby" with Blind Eyes. Worth each penny and have all the stuff in a advanced and high level of Quality and velocity.

... Sorry by my Alien English :o )

You have to be looking apt straight unimaginative on with this thing! The dissimilarity and brightness is wicked. Hard to net a pleased medium. You riase the brightness, becuase sad scenes search for "silver" and are not viewable. The a scene with a lot of white in it comes on and the whole thing is washed out.

Really would end away from this one.

im planning to pick up another one for my hubby for his truck my kid like it a ot and we are be pleased in it..thanks we recommend the space to everybody
